Pitzer's Masculinist Coalition had its first meeting today. I'd like to thank everyone who decided it was worth their time to attend. I'd also like to thank everyone who protested our inaugural meeting with a rival event setup several meters away. That's the kind of competitive spirit we celebrate. The Masculinist Coalition wants to extend sincere thanks to everyone who came out to express their opinion about this fantastic new organization. It deeply saddens me though, on a personal level, that so many of you who spoke your mind chose to leave almost immediately after you vehemently voiced your opinion. It's very disrespectful to all members of our group and we hope you stick around next time to show that you care about an opinion other than your own.

We videotaped the entire meeting (except for a few minutes near the beginning of q&a when we ran out of battery and the last 15 minutes when we ran out of tape) and you can view the whole hour long meeting in 3 separate videos.

I've decided to upload our videos to Funny or Die, and not YouTube, for a few reasons.

1) This organization is supposed to be light hearted and I prefer the idea of sharing our content with a community that has a predisposition to laughter as opposed to the standard poorly written rants that clutter YouTube.

2) I'm a very active member of the Funny or Die community and have a great relationship with the site. I'm hoping they'll take advantage of our choice to upload exclusively to them by giving us prominent coverage on their illustrious front page.

3) I think if we play our cards right we can get Will Ferrell or Judd Apatow as a guest speaker. We'll settle for Jerry O'Connell.

Enjoy watching all 60 minutes of our first meeting:

Here are some pictures I took of the posters we made for Man of the Week. We were actually 5 minutes late to our first meeting because we were at Kinko's waiting on the printer. I added a quarter for scale.

Thank you for taking the time to view/listen. I can tell there was a lot of anger/frustration over the name "Masculinist" because it might be linked to people who try to put women down (even though a Google search will reveal otherwise) and we here at the Masculinist Coalition want to make it infinitely clear that we don't discriminate against anybody. We're just trying to be ourselves and we hope that the community (both locally and abroad) can respect and tolerate us.

PS. I think it's hilarious everyone kept complaining our name but nobody seemed to pay attention to the sign on the cooler of Kool-Aid we brought...

Expect an update after our first Manday Monday.
